Developments and projections

What has happened?

Between 2024 and 2025, the research has advanced significantly in fieldwork and in the analysis of recovered materials, as well as in the various components of the historical and ethnographic research.

In 2026, these lines of work will continue. A first workshop was held in February at Universidad de los Andes, and a second workshop is planned for December at the University of Zurich, with sessions open to the public as well as internal working sessions with the research team.

Additionally, reports and articles are being prepared for publication in national and international outlets.

Volunteering (since 2024)

From the second semester of 2024 through the first semester of 2026, students from Universidad de los Andes and Universidad Javeriana participated in the project through internships and/or volunteer placements. These images capture various moments from these experiences during fieldwork.

Undergraduate research group, Universidad de los Andes (2025)

In the second semester of 2025, the undergraduate research group “Anthropology and Archaeology of Food” was held. It was led by Professor Elizabeth Ramos and included students from the Department of Anthropology. The following images were taken at the Zooarchaeology Laboratory of Universidad de los Andes, where students carried out faunal material analysis activities as part of the research group.

Workshop 2026

This workshop was held by the project research team on February 5 and 6, 2026, at Universidad de los Andes. The images capture various moments from the event, which included activities such as presentations, discussion panels on the project’s preliminary findings, and a public event attended by students, faculty, and researchers.
